It’s hard now to think back to those years of the horrible place I was in. Working 100 hours per week, tired all the time, grossly overweight, badly diabetic, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and stressed out all the time. Blowing up at our employees, fighting with my Mom, fighting with my wife, not seeing my children, when I did see them I was too tired to do anything with them and would usually snap at them for wanting to be with me, fighting with our management team while constantly being in a state of disappointment, anger, stereotyping and grouping anyone who didn’t perform at the minimum into a bad place in my mind. I was a walking ball of stress and it showed in every aspect of my health, attitude and worldview.
Something had to change or I couldn’t sustain this way any longer. So I started to learn why people did not gravitate to me. Why people didn’t engage with me. Why people did not want to work for us.
It was me. It was the way I talked. The way I walked. The way I acted sent mixed messages, I didn’t talk clearly about what I wanted and needed to run the business. I dug too deep into what wasn’t important and didn’t exploit what was an absolute must have for both sides to be successful, our business and the team worked hard for us every day.
I figured it out. I cracked the code.
Now I can’t go back, I can’t think the way I used to ever again. That version of Alan is gone never to return. Let me be your guide and help you get there faster.
